Are acupuncture patches an obstacle to ablution (wudu) or ritual bathing (ghusl)?

If the needles and patches used in acupuncture treatment cannot be removed and reapplied during the treatment period, or if doing so would cause significant difficulty, they do not prevent the validity of ghusl (ritual bathing) or wudu (ablution) as long as their use is medically necessary. In this case, the rulings regarding wiping (masah) over bandages apply.
