Can a deceased person be transported and buried in a place other than where they died?

It is recommended (mustahabb) for a person to be buried in the cemetery of the place where they died. Although there are exceptions, the noble Companions were generally buried where they passed away. However, from a religious perspective, there is no objection to transporting the deceased to another city or country and burying them there, provided there is no concern about the body deteriorating. Indeed, it is reported that Sa’d b. Abī Waqqās and Sa‘īd b. Zayd (may Allah be pleased with them) died in a place called Aqīq outside of Medina and were buried in Medina.
