Can a person who is missing one or both arms lead the prayer?

In order to serve as an imam, one must be able to recite enough of the Qur’an from memory for the prayer to be valid (qira’ah), know the rulings of prayer, and be physically able to perform the essential acts (rukn) of prayer. The absence of one or both arms does not prevent a person from fulfilling any of the essential acts of prayer; therefore, it is permissible for such a person to lead the prayer.
