Can the funeral prayer be performed with tayammum?

The funeral prayer, in terms of its conditions, is like other prayers. The requirements such as purification, facing the qibla, covering the awrah, and making the intention are observed in this prayer. It is not permissible to perform the funeral prayer without ablution. However, if a person is likely to miss the funeral prayer while performing ablution, they may perform tayammum and then offer the funeral prayer. (Mevsılî, el-İhtiyâr, 1/21)
