Can the funeral prayer (janazah) be performed more than once for a deceased person?

The obligation of the funeral prayer is fulfilled by performing it once. Therefore, it does not need to be repeated. However, those who could not attend the initial funeral prayer may later perform it individually or with a separate congregation. Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed the funeral prayer later for Umm Sa’d, as he was not present at her initial funeral prayer (Tirmidhi, Jana'iz, 47 [1037]).
