Can women perform prayer barefoot?

According to the preferred opinion in the Hanafi school, a woman's feet are not considered part of the awrah, so they may perform prayer without socks as long as the area above the ankles is covered. (Merğînânî, el-Hidâye, 1/45; Mevsılî, el-İhtiyâr, 1/46) In other schools of thought, however, a woman's feet are included among the parts that must be covered, so they must be covered during prayer. According to this view, a prayer performed by a woman with bare feet is not valid. (Ibn Qudamah, al-Mughnī, 1/431; Shirbīnī, Mughnī’l-muhtāj, 1/397) It is more prudent for women to cover their feet while praying.
