Does removing and putting on khuffs while in a state of ablution invalidate the ablution?

If a person puts on khuffs after washing their feet during ablution, removing and putting the khuffs back on does not invalidate the ablution as long as the ablution remains. However, if the person has completed ablution by wiping over the khuffs, and then removes them, the wiping becomes invalid. In this case, the ablution continues by simply washing the feet and putting the khuffs back on. (Merğînânî, al-Hidāya, 1/31; Mevsılî, al-Ikhtiyār, 1/25)
