How is tasbihat performed after the prayers?

The tasbihat and supplications performed after the prayers, although not part of the prayer itself, are considered among the accepted acts of worship. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) gave special advice to Muslims regarding tasbihat, and he himself would seek forgiveness from Allah three times after the prayers and would say:

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ السَّلاَمُ وَمِنْكَ السَّلاَمُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الجَلاَلِ وَالإِكْرَامِ.

“O Allah, You are Peace, and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor!” (Tirmidhi, Salat, 224 [300]; Nasa'i, Sahw, 81 [1337]; see Muslim, Masajid, 135 [591])

It is also recommended in authentic hadiths to remember Allah after the prayers by saying “Subhanallah” (Glory be to Allah), “Alhamdulillah” (Praise be to Allah), and “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is the Greatest) thirty-three times each. In a hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever, after every prayer, says Subhanallah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-three times, and then to complete a hundred says:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ.

(There is no god but Allah, He is alone, He has no partner. Sovereignty belongs to Him, and all praise is due to Him. He has power over all things.) his sins will be forgiven even if they are as much as the foam of the sea.” (Muslim, Masajid, 146 [597])

In another hadith, it is stated that no one can reach the rank of the one who performs this tasbihat thirty-three times after the prayers. (Bukhari, Adhan, 155 [843])
