How should women arrange their rows when attending a funeral prayer?

It is not considered appropriate for women attending the funeral prayer to stand in the same row as men unless there is a necessity. Therefore, whenever women perform any prayer together with men, they should stand behind the men. Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) arranged the prayer rows with men at the front, then boys, and women at the back (Muslim, Masajid, 266 [658]). Although this method is in accordance with the Sunnah, if women happen to pray the funeral prayer among men, this does not affect the validity of the prayer, since the funeral prayer is not regarded as a complete prayer with bowing and prostration. Nevertheless, it is considered undesirable (makruh) for women to act in this manner.
