If the time for a prayer ends before the prayer being performed is completed, does this invalidate the prayer?

Except for the morning (fajr) and Friday (jumu'ah) prayers, scholars unanimously agree that the expiration of the prayer time while performing a prayer does not invalidate that prayer. Regarding the morning prayer, based on hadiths that prohibit praying at sunrise, Imam Abu Hanifa stated that the rising of the sun would invalidate the prayer being performed. However, Imam Abu Yusuf and Muhammad said that if one has sat for the duration of the tashahhud in the final sitting, the prayer would not be invalidated. (Kâsânî, Bedâ’i, 1/122-124; Ibn al-Humam, Fath al-Qadir, 1/386) Other schools of thought, relying on the hadith of the Prophet (peace be upon him) which states that if one rak'ah of the morning prayer is performed before sunrise or one rak'ah of the afternoon prayer before sunset, the prayer should be completed and is valid (Bukhari, Mawaqit al-Salat, 28 [579]), have stated that the expiration of the prayer time while performing a prayer does not invalidate it. (Ibn Rushd, Bidayat al-Mujtahid, 1/102-103; Ibn Qudamah, al-Mughni, 1/273) Accordingly, although there is a difference of opinion regarding the morning prayer, in general, the prayer being performed is not invalidated by the entry of the next prayer time.
