Is a person who lives with his father obliged to pay zakat?

In Islam, personal ownership is fundamental. Accordingly, even if a person lives with his father, if he possesses wealth that reaches the nisab amount subject to zakat, he is obliged to pay zakat. However, if he and his father have not separated their assets and earn and spend jointly, then the person who has the authority to dispose of the accumulated wealth is the one responsible for paying zakat.
