What is the ruling on announcing a funeral with the call of salā?

There is no information in the sources indicating that the call of salā was recited during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). However, it is Sunnah to announce the news of a death by various means. Indeed, it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) informed his companions of the death of Najāshī (Bukhārī, Janāʾiz, 4 [1245]), and that he expressed his discontent by saying, “Why did you not inform me?” (Bukhārī, Janāʾiz, 5 [1247]) regarding a funeral that was buried without his knowledge. There is no objection to announcing a funeral with the call of salā as long as it is not considered obligatory.
